"Sand Makes Concrete."

So with the corn a shade too wet and a brand new tractor just waiting to be played with, I decided to plant a little wheat.
Loading straight from the bin, pretty much the only perk of running a seed farm.

When we started though, we were not able to get the seed down to moisture. I was a little concerned, but then I noticed that the gauge wheels were not leaving tracks. The problem must be a lack of down pressure.

This is where I adjust the hydraulic down pressure for my drill. With no ballast on the drill, I have to keep the pressure in the green zone. With ballast, however, I can push the pressure into the yellow zone.

So, ten new suitcase weights later, and we were in business, at least getting most of the seed to moisture.
