My first day.

Today was my first day of planting. It is kind of like the first day of school. I even had weird dreams about it last night. But I hadn't in fact won a brand new tractor when I woke up this morning. I try to make sure that the neighbors know that I don't have auto-steer. 'Cause I'm cool like that.
Planting into moisture--what a novel idea!
Farming is the process of burying vast sums of money. I want you to take out your wallet, pull out $50,000 and bury it in your back yard. You can dig it back up in October. Hopefully.

Friday to Sunday

On Sunday we went to the park.

We also had Betsy's Alsop Birthday Bash.
I wish this was a video so you could hear Anna singing.
Before Anna notices the camera...
And after Anna notices the camera. She has become very good at the fake smile.

April Showers.

Today we got some snow. We had blizzard conditions for most of the day.
We got a lot of snow.
We lost power at 2:30. The power came back on at 11:00.
Here is Betsy celebrating the return of power.

hmmm...

We should have some very interesting wheat pictures in the next few weeks, and not the pretty kind, I'm afraid. Wheat across the state is about two weeks ahead of schedule, which means it has almost all started to joint. The old rule of thumb, according to the paper, is that two hours at 24 degrees is enough to damage jointed wheat. I have seen other forecasts for Saturday night as low as 16 degrees.
